Shopping List

Here is a convenient shopping list for your Potter Party. I have separated it into sections depending on which craft you wish to do.

THE SNITCHES - DEATHLY HALLOWS VERSION
Shopping List:
-Newspaper or regular paper or tissue paper
-Flour
-Water
-Paintbrushes
-Balloons
-Rocks (just from outside) (Could also use clay)
-Key rings or a circular object that is ring-sized
-Black paint
-Black fabric paint (alternatives noted in post)
-Gold Spray Paint
-Aluminum tart shells (optional; used to make the wings. You could also use construction paper or something similar if you wished)


THE SLYTHERIN LOCKET
Shopping List:
-Clay
-Green beads, sparkles, rhinestones etc.
-String of any sort; can be plastic, but ought to be wide enough to see. If you wanted to spend a bit more money for a more authentic look you could also purchase a chain at your local craft store.
-Gold Spray Paint
-Toothpicks, needles etc. for carving into the clay
-Wax paper, newspaper etc. for minimizing mess

THE WAX SEAL
Shopping List:
-Clay (can be bakeable or not, doesn't matter. I got mine from the dollar store for about a buck and a half)
-Toothpicks, needles, any small sort of device you can use to carve a design in the clay
-A hot glue gun OR wax sticks
-Paint OR wax sticks in the desired colour
-Ice pack
-Oil (like vegetable oil)
-Wax paper (or parchment paper but wax paper is recommended)
-Paper towels (optional but recommended)
-Newspaper (optional but recommended to minimize mess)

Shopping List:
-Paper
-Tea (the kind does not matter but a brown or orange tea is preferable because this is the colour your paper will turn)
-Instant Coffee (optional, but adds a cool effect)
-Cookie trays/jelly roll pans (15"x1"x10" pan. Although any oven-safe pan that fits a piece of paper onto it should be fine)
-Newspaper or rags to put the paper on afterwards to dry
-Heavy flat objects to put on the paper afterwards to flatten it

The Cupcakes
-All-purpose flour
-Sugar
-Cocoa
-Baking soda
-Baking powder
-Salt
-2 eggs
-Milk
-Vegetable oil
-Vanilla
The Icing
-Butter
-Icing sugar
-2 egg yolks
-Vanilla
-Half and half cream
-Food colouring
Other
-Liquorice (red or black; any kind)

Shopping List:
-Jelly beans
-Assorted spices (suggestions: Ginger, Cinnamon, Chilli Powder, Ground Hot Pepper, Nutmeg, and Paprika)
-Vinegar or other liquids for flavouring (optional)
-Sugar
-Newspaper to minimize mess

Shopping List:
-Cardstock paper OR paperboard (that is, the sort of cardboard that cracker and cereal boxes are made of)
-Scissors
-Glue

Shopping List:
-Chocolate Turtles (I used Nestlé's)
-Small edible sprinkles (or any other nonpareil you happen to have that would work for the purposes. Even a bit of coloured sugar maybe)
-Wax paper
-Icing:
   -Butter
   -Icing sugar
   -2 egg yolks
   -Vanilla
   -Half and half cream
   -Food colouring
(you can also use your own icing recipe)

OR if you have a chocolate frog mould things are much easier :)

Shopping List:
-Hot glue (A LOT of hot glue)
-Twine/String etc.
-Sticks/twigs (We honestly went out and trimmed some off of fallen branches. You need a fair few sticks, but it shouldn't take you very long if you go tramping through a forest with a pair of clippers)
-A long broom-thickness stick, preferably fairly straight
-Engraver (optional)
-Gold paint (optional)

Shopping List:
Green Sparkles (I used two colours; a light green and a darker one and mixed them)
Small bottles, preferably with corks (available at a dollar store. I found a pack of about 10 tiny corked bottles containing beads. I simply emptied the beads into bags and used the bottles. It cost about $1.50)

OR
You could also dye sugar green should you want to make your Floo Powder edible or do not have any green sparkles available. There is also a way to make glittering salt, and for that you need:
-Baking pan
-Tin foil
-Salt
-Liquid food colouring

Shopping List:
-A clear plastic or glass Christmas ornament, the sort you use for putting photos in. Available at many craft stores
-Red and/or white tissue paper

Shopping List:
-Plastic Easter eggs (we used 4, but it's up to you)
-Gold Spray Paint
ALTERNATIVE could be if you make your own clay Easter Eggs OR if you paper maché Easter Eggs, it's up to you.

Shopping List:
-A piece of paper, 8.5”x11” or larger
-Double-sided tape (optional)
-Hot Glue gun
-White glue (optional but recommended; can use hot glue as well)
-Scissors
-Paint, spray paint or otherwise, in the colour you would like your wand to be
-Toilet paper, tissue paper, or even scrap paper
